Scott says:

The story of ANCESTOR saved my life. True story. And now, on April 1, you can help the world's most popular podcast novel get a life of its own.

My first book, EARTHCORE, was released as a 'podcast only' novel. When it was done, these fans angrily demanded more stories. You know that classic line "Please, Sir, I want more?" My fans said something to the effect of "Give us more stories or we're going to hunt you down and lop off your toes with a bolt-cutter."

I faced a popular revolt. They wanted more. I had finished the novel ANCESTOR, and the book called to me, telling me it could satisfy this horde of ravenous fans. Satisfy it did, and more, as I delivered the final episode to an audience of 30,000 people.

That's the beauty of podcasting. I wrote exactly the book I wanted to write, put it out there, and the fans found it. I didn't parse it down to fit a specific genre, and I didn't have Big Publishing telling me how to change the story so it would cater to the largest possible demographic.

I wrote what I wanted to write, and people loved it.

Now, Dragon Moon Press and I have a goal, a wild, crazy, unattainable mission to hit #1 on Amazon.com. If we do this, it will send a shockwave through the publishing world. I'm not Stephen King, and and Dragon Moon Press is not a big publisher, but we will place a flag in the sand that say "the fans want this, and they are going to get it!" We're giving the power back to the readers... and having fun along the way.

On April 1, at noon Eastern, 9 am Pacific, ANCESTOR fans around the globe will buy the book on Amazon.com as we all try to make it #1. I hope you join us.

WHAT'S ANCESTOR ABOUT?

On a remote island in Lake Superior, scientists struggle to solve the problem of  xenotransplantation: using animal tissue to replace failing human organs. Funded by the biotech firm Genada, Dr. Claus Rhumkorrf strives to recreate the ancestor of all mammals, and use it to genetically engineer a self-sustaining herd of organ-donor animals. The process will save millions of lives, and make billions for Genada. Rhumkorrf discovers this ancestor, but it's not the docile, harmless creature he envisions.

His genius gives birth to a fast-growing evil
that nature eradicated 250 million years ago.
An evil now on the loose, and very ... very ... hungry.

REVIEWS of ANCESTOR

"The future of gene manipulation is already here, and this ancestor may well be one of its outcomes. Be very, very afraid, or be extinct." ~A.M. Stickel, BLACK PETALS magazine

"Ancestor's story is high-tech, but Sigler gets old school with the terror. This is dirt-under-the-fingernails, high-excitement horror. Make no mistake: The man wants to scare the hell out of you."  ~J.C. Hutchins, author of the 7th SON: BOOK ONE - DESCENT

FEATURED BOOK -- LEGENDS of SERAI by JC Hall

JC says:

So many fantasy novels have male protagonists and the ‘quest’ theme where a bunch of mismatched people get together and journey on to find some object of vast importance.  I wanted to read about strong female protagonists who lived in worlds where there’s magic but also rules and laws, where the conflict has mostly to do with them being in a position of responsibility, and also to do with them being female.

Since there were few such novels around, I decided to write one.  The House of Orveen was also about Lady Cara (the female protagonist of Legends) and was the prequel to Legends, but it was so amateurish I put it aside as soon as I completed it and did not even submit it for publication.  But I now had the back-story, I knew I had the persistence to complete a novel, so I took the experience and ran with it.  Et voila, Legends of the Serai was born.

In the realm of fantasy subgenres, I like to think of Legends as a chameleon with attitude, blending into classic sword-and-sorcery with a strong dose of romance, yet sticking out like a sore thumb because its protagonist is resolutely female without sacrificing any of her strengths.  Reviewers have commented that the writing sets it apart, and I like to think that lyricism has a firm place in fantasy, even when swordplay and sorcery provide most of the action and adventure.

WHAT'S LEGENDS OF THE SERAI ABOUT?

In the course of an assignment for the Overseer, Lead-Officer Cara'sen of the Alysian Guild encounters something she has not bargained for: three legendary opals--sun-stone, moon-stone, and the infamous fire-opal of ancient lore-- and Karvel'len, a mysterious young man with ties to both the nomadic Serai and the Boundary-Keepers of the Open-Land. Cara'sen comes to believe that both her exiled brother and Karvel'len are the 'Chosen Ones' mentioned in a Serai prophecy. But neither of them is prepared to believe her because of the enmity between them. Not knowing whether her own goddess has forsaken her, realizing that her brother and Karvel'len will likely kill one another before the transcription of the Serai legends is completed, she struggles to save the lives of the men she loves and at the same time ensure the continued existence of the Western Lands.

REVIEWS of LEGENDS OF THE SERAI

Legends of the Serai is a finely wrought piece of work that grips the reader from the first page. A virtual labyrinth of sorcery, adventure, and fantasy. A real find."   ~Shelley Glodowski, Midwest Book Review

"Legends of the Serai, an engrossing fantasy novel from Canadian J.C. Hall is a complex tale of ancient legends, politics and relationships. Ms. Hall has created a fascinating world of intrigue and magic populated with characters that are deep and endlessly unpredictable." ~Elizabeth K. Burton, The Blue Iris Journal

Nina Munteanu, author of the upcoming DARWIN'S PARADOX says: "My second book, a sensual romantic SF novelette with eXtasy Books got quite a nice review from Ecataromance and has been nominated for their 2006 Ecataromance Reviewers' Choice Award. It says, in part "...The Cypol is a different type of romance...The ending is poignant yet appropriate. Ready for something different yet rewarding? The Cypol by Nina Munteanu is well worth your time."

I also have a strange tale to tell of a recent publication of mine in a Romanian webzine. I was googling myself (yeah, it's lots of fun and sometimes the only way I get news about what's happened to my pubs) and discovered an archaic reference to a Nina Munteanu with strange description that didn't match me but the tag line matched one of my stories. When I checked, I discovered that SFera had picked up my short story, "Arc of Time", previously published in a sister Romanian magazine, Imagikon, now defunct. But they'd plastered a picture (and bio) of some other lady! Go figure! Will the real Nina Munteanu please smile! I don't really mind but...who is she, really?...Does that mean that I have a pseudo-face now? You can check out my story here! I'm not even sure I submitted the story to them...   Yes, the picture above is the REAL me!  Cheers, Nina

JYT Kennedy, author of the upcoming DOMINION, was pleased to receive the following accolade in a recent review of the anthology, In The Dark: Stories of the Supernatural. Richard Gavin, writing for Rue Morgue, commented: "In The Dark does feature an impressive roster of talent. . .The moods range from sombre to light and whimsical, with the most pleasant surprise being some very fine vignettes ("Hair Wreath" by Villegas and J.Y.T. Kennedy's "The Fatality Sign" to name but two) and outstanding horror poetry. . ."
