Dragon Moon Press would like to thank you for your interest in submitting your manuscript for our review. The submission process is a time-consuming one, and at the moment, we need to concentrate on developing and marketing the books we currently have under contract. At present, we are only accepting solicited manuscripts via referral from our authors and associates. All manuscripts already under review will still be considered by our readers, and we will notify you of our decision within 4-6 months.

For solicited submissions:

Market: We prefer manuscripts targeted to the adult market or the upper border of YA. No middle grade or children’s literature, please.

Genre: Generally speaking, we prefer fantasy, paranormal, soft sci-fi and gentle horror. For an exceptional manuscript those boundaries may exhibit a little flexibility, but they’ll only bend so far. Do keep our genre preference in mind before you submit.

Length: 80,000-100,000 words.

File format: We prefer electronic submissions. Please send a query letter as the body of the message, followed by the first 15 pages, also in the body of the message. DO NOT send attachments and do not direct us to go look at your manuscript on your website. Please make your excerpt readable, with an extra line break between paragraphs and no special formatting. You may use /slashes/ for italics or _underscores_ for underline. Please separate sections with a single character such as # or * on a new line.

Query letter: Your query MUST include your name and email address in the body of your email, along with title, genre and word count, a brief 1-2 paragraph interesting synopsis of your story and any relevant credits you may have.

Email to: eic  @  dragonmoonpress . com

Subject line: "BOOK SUBMISSION:" followed by your book title

If we request a full manuscript: A requested full manuscript is the only submission that should be an email attachment. Please send the full manuscript in Microsoft Word .doc (not .docx) format. It should be double spaced between lines, with one space after a period. We prefer italics to underlines, minimal formatting (no single character ellipses or spaces between periods in ellipses, no creative ink colors or header styles, and no fancy characters as section breaks), in Courier New or Times New Roman. The title page should include the title, your name and contact information (including your email address), and an estimated word count. Please include your name, title and page number in a single line on the header on each page. (Name / Title / #)

From all of us at Dragon Moon Press, thank you for your support, and best wishes – we really do hope you find the perfect home for your story.

  • Suppose They Gave a Book and Nobody Came?
I haven't heard writers fretting about underattended signings, and the readings I go to are always packed. Nonetheless, there's this persistent idea that unless you make people show up to a book-related event, they would really rather stay home and tweet their Goodreads updates.
