In a world where no one really believes in magic, one man is stealing all that is left...
When
Thomas came home from the Royal Academy he expected some scolding. After
all, he was too thin, his clothes were threadbare, and he was wearing
a rapier he'd won at a fencing tournament.
He
wasn’t expecting that his father would declare him a ruffian and
disgrace who would not be allowed home until he cleaned up. Or that
Bishop Malloy would be there and that the man's voice would ooze with
a power that would make Thomas's father do his bidding. Or that he would
meet a juggler who could create a ball of light out of the air.
And
he certainly wasn't expecting to be the only one who noticed it all.
Before long, Thomas is thrust into a nightmare of betrayal and murder, where all that he has is threatened by a power he does not understand, and where learning to master a power he did not know he had may be the only way he can survive.
